Investors back in market

By Graeme Salt

Investors are showing increased confidence in the property market and are increasingly looking to buy property.

New figures from the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) show that, for the first time in a decade, the growth in investor finance is now higher than for owner-occupied properties.

And, according to the latest Westpac consumer sentiment survey, the time to buy a dwelling index jumped by more than 10 per cent to be 37 per cent higher than in August 2024!

On the ground, we are seeing more investors looking for opportunities – either at home or interstate.  Jim Christou of The Agency Toorak recently told the Australian Financial Review “the market was taking off, and interstate buyers were coming in. They see there’s going to be an increase in value moving forward. It’s happening again.”

If you are based in one of the markets that have already had a fair bit of growth, you may want to talk to a buyer’s agent who understands where the next growth markets are.
